All the answers in one place.
Chumbi Valley is a play-to-earn game inspired by famous games such as Zelda, Stardew Valley, Pokemon and Studio Ghibli. Players will be immersed in a mystical forest raising lovable creatures called “Chumbi”. They will be rewarded for farming, exploring, crafting, breeding, battling and more.
The team is from Melbourne in Australia.
Good news! Chumbi Valley is a free-to-start game where you will be paired with a free Ancestor Chumbi to guide you. But the rewards with this free Chumbi are very minimal and there are limitations to Ancestors Chumbi compared to a normal Chumbi. One of the Chumbi Ancestor's limitations is the fact that it is not a NFT, and that he cannot breed.
It's a mix of "Chubby", "Chibi"(short in Japanese) and "Stumpy".
There is no specific date announced at the moment, but the team is doing its best to have a first release around mid 2022. At the beginning, only a few features will be available, and the team will add more over time. Farming and Crafting will be the first two features to be released.
The number of times a Chumbi can be bred is defined by its breeding count. There is no information about the exact number of breeding available for a Chumbi at this stage, but we know it will be limited.
If you breed two compatible types, you'll have a good chance of getting a Tier upgrade (we are waiting for more information from the team about this).
If you breed two incompatible types, you have very low chance of getting a Tier upgrade, and higher chance of getting a Chumbi with the same type as either one of the parent.
We have very little information about the mini Chumbi at the moment, but we know they are very rare, and you'll need a lot of luck to breed a mini Chumbi.
We don't have much information about shiny Chumbi right now, but we do know they are rare, and you'll need a lot of luck to breed a shiny Chumbi.
This information has not been communicated by the team... yet.
We do not have the "answer" to this yet. Self-breeding is an option being considered by the team, but we are waiting for details about the final breeding process.
Chumbi are adorable bipedal creatures that inhabit the forest valley. They are also materialized by NFTs on the blockchain (NFTs that you can trade or sell). You will find plenty of information about this in the Chumbi Wiki Section
A Chumbi has two main attributes, which are its type and its coat. At the academy, we call these "main attributes" as they define the most important parts of a Chumbi's appearance. The other secondary attributes are: its eyes, ears, horns (optional), mouth and pattern (optional).
You will be able to start the game with an ancestor Chumbi. This ancestor will help you with the basic actions but as it is not an NFT, you will not be able to sell or exchange it.
So far, 15 different Chumbi types have been discovered. These are Spark, Cave, Forest, Insect, River, Mountain, Flame, Neutral, Feather, Flower, Frost, Crystal, Creature, Spirit and Void. There could be more in the future, though.
In the Valley, there are 2 different kinds of Chumbi that exist. The Standard Chumbi, which are the most common Chumbi, and the Mini Chumbi (which is a smaller version of a Standard Chumbi, and is very rare)
There is 15 different coat's types (Spark, Cave, Forest, etc...). For each coat's type, you can have 6 different variations. For example you can have 6 different Spark's gen0 coat. So there is a total of 90 Coats for standard gen0 Chumbi. The Chumbi Seeds coats are exclusive and will not be minted anymore.
There is a total of 15 coats types (Spark, Cave, Forest, etc...) and a total of 45 different coat variations for minis. So there is a total of 45 coats for mini Chumbi Seeds.
There is 15 different coat's types (Spark, Cave, Forest, etc...). For each coat's type, for the standard Chumbi, you can have 9 different variations. For example you can have 9 different Spark's coat. So there is a total of 135 Coats for standard Chumbi
There is 15 different coat types (and they have the same name as the Chumbi type: Spark, Cave, Forest, etc...). For each coat type, for mini Chumbi, you can have 4 different variations. For example you can have 4 different Forest coats. So that's a total of 60 possible Coats for mini Chumbi. All these mini coats are smaller versions of the Standard coats.
There really are a lot of combinations of Chumbi parts, and there is an almost infinite number of possible Chumbi.
The team haven’t communicated much about this for now, but so far "mini" Chumbi do not present any advantages or specific abilities. But we have heard that the team's plan is that mini Chumbi could have an in-game use.
The team haven't communicated much about this yet, but so far "shiny" Chumbi do not present any advantages or specific abilities. At this stage, Shiny is just esthetic.
We know that the type defines the first battle attack of a Chumbi. And we also know that each Chumbi type has 3 different tones (light, medium and dark). Each of these different tones is considered as a type, meaning you'll have a specific battle attack for each tone (for example, a light spark will have a different first attack than a medium spark).
The eyes of a Chumbi define its first effect, that can be used in battle.
The mouth of a Chumbi defines its second effect, that can be used in battle.
The pattern of a Chumbi defines the Ability, that can be used in battle.
The level of a Chumbi will impact its strength in battle, but also increase the level of rewards it can receive.
You can level up your Chumbi by wining battles. Every 5 levels, you'll need to eat a Candied Apple to progress to the next level.
A higher happiness level unlocks higher staking reward APY (Annual Percentage Yield) when a Chumbi is assigned to the Shrine of Giving. You can feed your Chumbi with its favorite food to increase its happiness level.
Chumbi are peaceful and loyal by nature, but a dark forest presence is cursing them. Cursed Chumbi are wild Chumbi, who will attack anything. Players will have the chance to defeat them, which will get rid of their, gain XP, and earn Lucky Stars.
The gameplay is very rich and varied, and lots of different features will be available over time. Among these we have "Home building", "Breeding", "Exploring", "Farming", "Crafting", "Trading", "Earning", and "Battling". You'll find a complete review of these features in our gameplay wiki section. The farming and crafting will be the first 2 features available at the game launch.
The players will be able to find rare seeds and start a farm in order to grow forest crops, which have many uses. Crops are in-game tokenized items, they need to be watered regularly and will grow on blockchain based time.
With your Chumbi by your side, you can power up an ancient portal and step through it, allowing you to explore randomly generated terrains in various biomes, find rare NFT items and encounter cursed Chumbi in the wild.
You can work with your Chumbi to gather resources that can be used to craft NFT items for your world. Crafted items can be sold on the marketplace or in-game to the Wandering Trader.
Each Chumbi is a unique NFT creature made up of a rare combination of: type, coat, ears, horns, eyes, mouth, and pattern. Breed them together for rare and exciting new combos!
As long as you progress in the adventure, you'll collect precious resources and get more NFT rewards. You'll be able to trade them or buy some new ones, on the marketplace, or to the Wandering Trader. You'll also be able to reinforce your Chumbi Team by buying some on the marketplace.
You'll have the opportunity to battle against wild cursed Chumbi and other trainers to increase your Chumbi’s level. A Chumbi with a higher level can defeat stronger foes and receive better rewards.
This feature will allow players to temporarily lend their Chumbi to other players. By lending them to another player you'll be able to share the game rewards with him (with an adjustable percentage of all rewards earned by your Chumbi fixed by you).
The Shrine of Giving is an ancient monument which has the ability to multiply a Chumbi’s precious items. This monument is at the heart of the staking system (see next "question").
All along the game, Players will be able to earn rewards, by completing quests, selling NFT items, and also by staking some CHMB to the Shrine of Giving. By locking these CHMB in the Shrine, you contribute to reducing the circulating supply, and the game rewards you for that by giving you CHMB and NFT items as rewards. You can increase the rewards APY by assigning a Chumbi to the Shrine (and Chumbi with a maximum happiness level will unlock an APY which is significantly higher than the base rate).
So far we know that players' Chumbi will be able to battle against other Chumbi and also against wild cursed Chumbi. Coming out of a combat victorious will allow you to increase the level of your Chumbi and receive better rewards.
Apparently, there is a place called “Chumbi Sage” where Chumbi can learn spells. Spells will allow you to gather valuable in-game tokenized resources (even while you are offline). While increasing the spell levels of your Chumbi, you will also be increasing its value, if you plan to sell it on the marketplace.
The happiness of a Chumbi seems to help with regard to the Shrine of Giving. You can consign your Chumbi to the shrine in order to earn rewards. The happier your Chumbi is, the more rewards you will receive. To increase the happiness of your Chumbi, you can feed it with its favorite food. For that you’ll need to combine some LSTS token with some crops farmed in the game.
The game will be free and the player will start with an Ancestor Chumbi which is not an NFT. No NFT will be given to players at the beginning of the game.
At the beginning of the game, the in-game players will have a cloak, but this cloak will not be an NFT. As you progress in the game, you will have the possibility to get new accessories, with which you can equip on your player (or you can purchase these, by visiting the Wandering Trader or the marketplace). There is already one player accessory which has been released, it is the Founders Cloak (20 of them are given to the most active members at the beginning of the project). These cloaks are already tradable on OpenSea.
You will get to choose your cloak color at the start of the game, but these cannot be traded or sold. For special NFT cloaks and cosmetics you can visit the Marketplace or Wandering Trader in-game shop.
In a similar way to player's accessories, it will be possible to get some Chumbi NFT accessories during the game and you'll be able to equip your Chumbi with them. As you progress through the game you will have the option to get new accessories, with which you can kit out your player (or you can buy these by visiting the Wandering Trader or the marketplace). There is already one Chumbi accessory which has been released, it is the Headpiece (100 of them are given to the most active members at the beginning of the project). These headpieces are already tradable on OpenSea
Cosmetics are NFT items which you can use to equip your player or your Chumbi. You can find some at the Wandering Trader shop or on the marketplace. These cosmetics can be totally visual or can give some specific aptitudes to the player or the Chumbi. Cosmetics can be added or removed from one Chumbi, or placed on another one, as many times as you like. Two cosmetics are already out and for sale on the market: the Founders Cloak and the Headpiece
You will be able to purchase emotes for your Chumbi from the Wandering Trader. An emote will give an emotion to your Chumbi. Some emotes will be available for a limited time. Then they will be yours to sell on the Marketplace. We have heard that the team may add emotes for players too.
There are 2 tokens in the game: the Chumbi Token (CHMB) and the LuckyStars (LSTS).
The CHMB will be used in the game to buy NFT items, or pay in-game fees. It can also be staked through the Shrine of Giving.
The LSTS is dedicated to "play-to-earn" rewards in the game. It will be required and burnt through breeding, levelling, spells and happiness mechanics. The player will have the opportunity to earn LSTS in many gameplay features, such as game quests, farming crops, exploring, battles, and selling assets and items to the Wandering Trader.
There is a total supply of 30 Billion CHMB Tokens
There is no fixed supply for the LSTS token, the supply will be adjusted to preserve an optimal balance between supply and demand.
The team is planning to make the CHMB token a deflationary token by burning some tokens in special events, or by buying and burning tokens with the "Chumbi Treasury" funds.
